PHOSPHORESCENCE
by Jennifer C. Gutierrez

May it be, the dreams of bliss I will never have
like of a kiss that never touch my lips
in the lovely waking hour of my sleep

May it be, the paradise I will never remember
as your light recedes from my sight
on the edge my eyes that yearns to see

May it be, the image and reality of  love
with all these thoughts that wonder and fly
the only beauty my eyes will lay sight

May it always be like a mirage I will keep chasing,
whose place keeps changing
as the feelings keep turning

All the things wonderful on maybes
dreams on my sleep and sighs on my mornings
they do linger
like a widower's sorrows
like phosphorescence on my mind....
